AMBAR KELLY BECOMES A MEMBER OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR SPECIALIST FIRE PROTECTION

August 01 2022

Ambar Kelly, a leading expert in riser shaft flooring, is delighted to announce that as of June 2022, it is an approved member of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP).

The ASFP is the UK’s leading trade association for the passive fire protection industry. The association was established in 1975 in recognition of a need to bring together passive fire protection manufacturers, contractors and testing/certification bodies to encourage, develop and give guidance on essential standards in passive fire protection. It also supports the activities of the fire industry in relation to all forms of ‘built in’ fire protection. As a specialist in riser shaft flooring, Ambar Kelly’s affiliation to the ASFP is fully merited and the company looks forward to improving fire safety standards for riser shafts within the construction industry.

Ambar Kelly is the producer of the RiserSafe® modular riser flooring system, and aims to make the construction industry a safer place, through the evolution of riser shaft flooring design.  Every multi-storey building has riser shafts, and they present a risk during construction, but many within the industry are only concerned with the fall from height risk. Ambar Kelly’s ambition is to bring innovation to all levels of the construction industry in riser safety through education and collaboration; both for new build and refurbishment properties. Ambar Kelly has worked to create a paradigm shift within the industry to focus on the less visible risk of fires and the spread of smoke and flame, in order to create and construct inherently safer buildings for the builder and user.

Nick Atkinson, Company Director of Ambar Kelly comments: “Ambar Kelly is delighted to be a member of the UK’s leading trade association for the passive fire protection sector. Through our membership with the ASFP, our team will continue to make an impact on the wider construction industry by increasing our knowledge and therefore the quality of installed fire protection measures in riser shafts and the zone around them.”

Working with the Government and international standard setting bodies both directly, and via other sector group associations, the ASFP strives to promote excellence in the design and installation of fire protection products through high quality and technical expertise.

As an ASFP member, Ambar Kelly will uphold the ASFP’s mission and vision by offering the construction industry, knowledge and guidance in all aspects of ‘built-in’ passive fire protection products and systems. This includes technical support and impartial advice in relation to passive fire protection, and information relating to regulatory and behavioural change as an independent authority. Ambar Kelly will also serve and represent the wider passive fire protection industry by raising standards and competence through training, testing, certification and quality of installation and maintenance.

Nick Atkinson added: “This is an excellent opportunity for Ambar Kelly to offer its technical expertise in riser shafts as it pertains to buildings’ fire safety, in order to promote safer passive fire protection standards within the construction industry and to create inherently safer buildings for all.”
