AMBAR KELLY ATTENDS LITTLE BRITAIN CHALLENGE CUP 2022

October 14 2022

Ambar Kelly, producer of a total riser flooring solution, has participated in the Little Britain Challenge Cup, one of the property and construction industry’s premier charity and networking events.

Held from 9th – 10th September, the 2022 Little Britain Challenge consisted of a two-day, 5-race series event organised by industry volunteers. Ambar Kelly were excited to return to the charitable event following a hiatus of several years due to COVID-19. The company’s crew consisted of Ambar Kelly’s Alex Bardett, Nick Atkinson, Rachael Groves and Charlie Anderson, as well as fellow industry professionals.

This long-established regatta has been popular with construction industry professionals since its conception in 1988. Based in the Isle of Wight, the Challenge Cup is organised by LBCC, a non-profit organisation which is completely run by volunteers. The race is dedicated to raising money for LBCC charities that have been negatively affected over the past year, as their funding channels have suffered from social and working restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Profits and all donations will be donated to the nominated sailing charities which presently include the Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust, the Cirdan Sailing Trust, The Rona Sailing Project, Cowes Sailability, other local sailing charities and the RNLI.

The regatta was held in West Cowes with racing courses set in both the east and west of central Solent. Despite the wet and windy weather, the Ambar Kelly crew were determined to compete and participated in all the races per day. As soon as the klaxon sounded, the synergy between the team members was palpable.

The regatta is regarded as of being one of the most enjoyable networking events in the industry. Nick Atkinson, Company Director of Ambar Kelly agreed, stating: “This was an excellent event for team bonding. Everyone that attended had either never sailed before, or was a novice. Effectively, we took a group of acquaintances that didn’t know how to sail and formed real friendships by learning how to navigate a boat under competitive circumstances.”

The team were full of enthusiasm to contribute to a charitable cause, all the while strengthening bonds and learning a new skill. Nick Atkinson commented, “Seafaring is a bit like chess. You need to constantly think five moves ahead, coordinating the movement of the boat with the direction of the wind. And you also end up using muscles that you didn’t know you had before!”

This was a highly memorable event for all involved, helping to fortify team and client relationships while supporting a worthy cause. The Ambar Kelly team looks forward to attending the event again next year.
