Built in the heart of Birmingham, this building has 18 floors steel frame around 3 concrete cores. Being a very constrained site, close coordination was required with the structural steel frame contractor. Two deliveries a week were required to ensure their programme was met.

RiserSafe® units protected the construction workforce from the spread of smoke and flame in the unlikely event of a fire on site to meet fire protection on construction sites Joint Codes of Practice (JCoP). Further horizontal fire protection was required within the riser zone. This was accomplished by setting the floor plate of the particular units down by 50mm inside the system to provide the formwork for a fire compound to be installed once the M&E services are complete.

Where RiserSafe® units were positioned at the edge of the floor plates, additional detachable hand rails were provided as part of the system to protect the workforce on site until the external elevation was completed.
