70 St Mary Axe, London

70 St Marys Axe

70 St Mary Axe, London (known as the Can of Ham).

One of the unique developments to complement exciting designs such as Swiss Re Tower. This 22-storey sky scraper comprised of a concrete core and steel frame construction with risers around the outside of the concrete central core. RiserSafe® was chosen based on the updated riser strategy developed by the Mace Group. Where their requirement is for the riser strategy to be developed by the construction team early. The team had previously used RiserSafe® on One Angel Court and wanted to use it again. Being approved by the stake holders RiserSafe® has been used across the project. Some of the units being 7m x 1.5m wide, incorporating horizontal fire protection and drylined fire walls as part of the manufacturing of the system.

Client feedback: “I would say that my experience of riser safe on 70SMA has been very positive.”
