Fire Prevention on Construction Sites

RiserSafe® meets the Fire Prevention on Construction Sites Joint Code of Practice.

What is the objective of the Joint Code of Practice ?

The objective of the Joint Code of Practice is the prevention of fires on construction sites. The majority of fires can be prevented by designing out risk, taking simple precautions, and by adopting safe working practices.

Key Extracts from Joint Code of Practice

22.7 Risers shafts ducts and similar openings between floors should be closed off with doors having 30-minutes fire resistance, to separate them from floors, and must be fitted at all levels.

RiserSafe® acts as a barrier to the spread of smoke and flame and has been tested for 90 minutes at the British Research Establishment (BRE) with a 1000oC underneath without failure in its integrity.

Other important references from the Joint Code of Practice are:

4.10 High rise construction site. A site over 30m high.

22.5 Horizontally fire compartmented at intervals not exceeding 10 floors.
